What Types of Animals Eat Wakefield Peanuts? Wakefield peanuts are a popular snack amongst many squirrels, birds, chickens, ducks, geese, deer, chipmunks, foxes, raccoons and other outdoor wildlife. Some species of birds that especially love them are Parrots, Towhees, Crows, Blue Jays, Scrub Jays, Ravens, Sparrows, Woodpeckers, Cardinals, Chickadees, Nuthatches, Wrens and Doves. Roast or Boil Before Consumption Our 6 LB in-shell peanuts are USDA inspected and meet all requirements for human-consumption. These peanuts are safe to consume and a high-quality mix of fancy and jumbo peanuts. We always recommend that you roast or boil the peanuts before consumption. Storage of Raw Peanuts To maintain best quality, store peanuts in a cool, dry place. For short term storage (a few days) keep at or below 60 F; for extended storage keep at 40 F or below (Peanuts keep fresh indefinitely stored in a tightly closed container in the freezer.)
