Tea has been growing in northern Vietnam for over 2,000 years. The hilly terrain and ideal tea-growing climate are home to some of the oldest tea forests in existence. Teas made from these plants have a rich character and unique flavor profile.
Origin: Ban Lien, Vietnam
Northern tea region of Ban Lien in Vietnam is home to old growth tea trees also know as 'Shan Tea'. A pilot project to help preserve these tea forests is underway. We work directly with this project to source this Wild Black tea.
Long, stylish leaves, well crafted into a robust, hearty black tea.
Tea Culture
Tea drinking is an integral part of Vietnamese culture. Present everywhere from holidays to weddings, tea brings friends and family together in conversation and celebration.
Flavor
Aroma similar to rose-hibiscus flowers, coupled with classic 'big leaf' Assamica varietal woodiness. Amber-red brew, with mild dryness.
The Tao of Tea
Like the Tao, the art of tea is universal. We began our work with tea in 1997 to be a connecting thread for tea culture. Practicing the art on a daily basis in our teahouses in Portland, Oregon, we are a group of tea enthusiasts from different backgrounds and cultures. We travel, learn, take delight and seek to offer pure leaf teas with great flavor, artistry and soul. Our reward comes through actions that help people's lives, sustain the art of tea and promise a healthy environment.
