Wakefield premium birdhouses are hand-crafted in the USA and made of only the finest, sustainably-grown Eastern White Pine Wood. Eastern White Pine is an ideal material for birdhouses because it provides superior insulation during the summer and winter months while remaining light in weight and easy to hang. The Wakefield Small Winter Roost provides protection from the cold for most common backyard birds including wrens, chickadees, nuthatches, titmice, and bluebirds.

The house is made of thick wood for insulation, both from the heat of summer and the cold of winter. Ventilation is provided and the house is light-colored to keep it cool in the summer (many baby birds die in the nest from overheating). The front panel of each house opens for observation and easy cleaning after the birds have moved out for the season. Each house has 3 internal perches and can accommodate 6 or more birds. The front hole is 1.5 inches wide and protected by a slate guard to keep out predators.

Installation is easy and can be accomplished by nailing the metal hanger into a tree or post. The shelter should face away from prevailing winds to provide maximum protection for the fledglings. Each Wakefield Bird House is constructed to last and includes a brochure that describes the species, placement, and maintenance of the birdhouse.
