Eastern White Pine is an ideal material for birdhouses because it provides superior insulation during the winter months while remaining light in weight and easy to hang. The Wakefield Winter Shelter protects from the wind and snow during the long, cold, winter months. It is ideal for wintering birds such as Chickadees, Nuthatches, and Titmice. When Spring arrives, this unique shelter also doubles as a nesting perch. Platform nesters that will use it in the Spring include Song Sparrows, Phoebes, Barn Swallows, Robins, and more.

The horizontal design accommodates more birds and the long dowel provides plenty of room for perching. To attract birds to your Winter Shelter, we recommend providing the birds with a source of food, such as our popular Wakefield Peanuts (search Wakefield Peanuts), which will draw the birds to your shelter and encourage them to nest. To mount your Wakefield Winter Shelter, hang from a tree, post, or side of a building by placing screws or nails through the two pre-drilled holes on the back of the perch. The dimensions of this bird perch are 7.5"H x 17"W x 8.5"D. Each Wakefield Bird House is constructed to last and includes a brochure that describes the species, placement, and maintenance of the birdhouse.
