Castello di Monsanto owns some of the best vineyard sites within the appellation and is home to the largest reserves of Chianti Classico in Tuscany. In 1962, Fabrizio Bianchi founded the winery after it was presented to him as a wedding gift from his parents. That same year, pioneering Monsanto was the first winery to make a Chianti Classico Cru from the single 'Il Poggio' vineyard and worked to eliminate white grapes from Chianti Classico Riserva blend. Further, in 1981 Monsanto harvested the first 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, Nemo, from the Il Mulino vineyard. Monsanto Chianti Classico is a distinguished and classic red wine that represents the essence of the renowned Chianti Classico region in Tuscany. It displays a deep ruby-red color in the glass, captivating the eye. The nose is greeted with enticing aromas of ripe dark berries, cherries, and a touch of earthiness. On the palate, it offers a harmonious and well-structured experience, with flavors of blackberry, plum, and hints of spice. The well-integrated tannins provide a smooth and velvety texture, while the vibrant acidity adds freshness and balance. The finish is long and satisfying, leaving a lingering impression of fruit, a touch of tobacco, and a hint of violet. Monsanto Chianti Classico is a wine of distinction and character, perfect for pairing with hearty Italian dishes or savoring on its own.
