Harris Teeter Thanks Valued Associates, Customers for Donating $665k to Hurricane Helene Relief Efforts
Matthews, N.C. (Nov. 21, 2024) – Harris Teeter extends heartfelt thanks to its generous customers and valued associates for raising an incredible $665,000 to support the American Red Cross and its Hurricane Helene relief efforts. Harris Teeter serves as the steward of these donations, ensuring that 100% of the funds raised will go directly to the American Red Cross to aid in disaster recovery for those impacted by Hurricane Helene.
“Harris Teeter is proud to provide our customers with a direct way to contribute to a Hurricane Helene relief effort through our in-store Hurricane Disaster Relief Round Up Campaign,” said Danna Robinson, director of corporate affairs for Harris Teeter. “This initiative, along with our long-standing commitment to community support, exemplifies our dedication to helping those in need during times of crisis. We are grateful to our customers and associates who came together to make this donation possible, and we’re proud to work alongside the American Red Cross and our local partners to aid in recovery.”
This is just one way in which Harris Teeter has worked to support the affected communities in Western North Carolina. From the moment stores were able to safely re-open and deploy resources, Harris Teeter and its associates have worked to support the communities who have been affected. Beyond the funds raised through Round Up, the company has also been actively involved in providing essential supplies and services to those in need.
Harris Teeter supported WNC by:
- Delivering and donating more than a dozen truckloads, totaling more than 550,000 pounds, of ice and water to impacted communities including Asheville, Boone, Greenville, and Greer.
- Activating an Disaster Relief Round Up Campaign across all stores. This campaign benefits American Red Cross and 100% of funds donated go directly to them to aid in disaster relief efforts.
- Providing product donations to area hospitals in Hendersonville and Asheville, North Carolina.
- Coordinating with vendor partners to secure donations, which were efficiently transported and distributed to affected areas.
Supporting local food bank by donating $250,000 to MANNA FoodBank in Asheville, which serves over 160,000 people monthly. Supplemented this contribution with two truckloads of ready-to-eat meal boxes and bottled water, generating approximately 40,000 meals.
Harris Teeter knows many of its associates are facing the same challenges as their customers, yet they continue to work tirelessly to keep stores open and well-stocked. As they continue to support their neighbors in need, Harris Teeter provided resources and supplies, including emergency personal hygiene kits, emergency food boxes, clothing, and other resources to support associates’ needs.
