Harris Teeter teams up with NC State to expand Howling Cow® ice cream offering

Signature ice cream now available in more than 150 Harris Teeter locations

Matthews, N.C. - Harris Teeter today announced the expansion of NC State’s signature Howling Cow® ice cream in more than 150 stores. The delectable ice cream that was once available for purchase at only the North Carolina State Fair and NC State campus is now available at Harris Teeter stores across the Carolinas.

For more than 70 years, Howling Cow ice cream has been manufactured on campus at NC State. In January 2019, Harris Teeter licensed the Howling Cow trademark as well as certain ingredients and formulas. Harris Teeter now manufactures six Howling Cow ice cream flavors: Campfire Delight™, Cookie Dough2™, Chocolate Chip Mint, Cookies & Cream, Butter Almond and Cherry Brick Road™.

“We are proud to partner with NC State as the exclusive grocery retailer of Howling Cow pints, said Danna Robinson, communication manager for Harris Teeter. “Howling Cow and Harris Teeter were both born and bred in North Carolina and both are committed to exceptional product quality, which makes this local partnership a wonderful hometown pairing.”

Proceeds from the Howling Cow licensing agreement will help fund student scholarships and dairy and agriculture initiatives.

“Harris Teeter’s partnership with NC State will provide a more convenient way for customers to enjoy their favorite Howling Cow ice cream,” said Gary Cartwright, NC State’s Dairy Enterprise System director.
